Tom Breese ‘Out of the Game For a While;’ Reveals ACL, Meniscus Injuries on Instagram
Don't expect to see Tom Breese in the Octagon any time soon.
In an Instagram post made on Monday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight revealed that he had torn the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee and that he would be “out of the game for a while.”
The 25-year-old Birmingham, England native has battled similar injuries throughout his young career. Following his December 2012 victory over Warren Kee, Breese spent nearly two full years on the shelf due to knee injuries.
Breese's general luck has not been great recently, either. After beginning his career 10-0, the Brit suffered his first pro loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 199 last June. He was scheduled to return to action in March at UFC Fight Night 108, headlined by Jimi Manuwa's first-round knockout of Corey Anderson, but he was pulled from what would have been his UFC middleweight debut against Oluwale Bamgbose just hours before the bout; Breese was deemed medically unfit to compete due to an irregular heart rate.
