A battle of welterweight prospects has been added to the UFC 199 lineup, as Tom Breese will lock horns with Sean Strickland on June 4.
Promotion officials announced the pairing on Tuesday. UFC 199 takes place at the Forum in Los Angeles and is headlined by a middleweight championship rematch between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman. In the co-main event, Dominick Cruz defends the 135-pound title against Urijah Faber.
The 24-year-old Breese is 10-0 in his burgeoning professional tenure, including triumphs over Keita Nakamura, Cathal Pendred and Luiz Jorge Dutra Jr. in the Octagon. The Tristar Gym representative went the distance for the first time in his career in besting Nakamura at UFC Fight Night in London on Feb. 27.
A former King of the Cage titlist, Strickland has gone 4-1 in the UFC since joining the Las Vegas-based promotion in 2014. Most recently, the 25-year-old Californian stopped Alex Garcia via third-round technical knockout at UFC Fight Night in Pittsburgh on Feb. 21.
