A lightweight contest between Tony Ferguson and Yancy Medeiros has been added to UFC 184 “Weidman vs. Belfort.”
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Tuesday announced the bout. The pay-per-view event takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 28 and is headlined by a middleweight title tilt between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort. In the evening’s co-main event, Ronda Rousey defends her women’s bantamweight crown against Cat Zingano.
Ferguson, 30, has won four straight contests since dropping a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox 3. Most recently, “El Cucuy” finished Abel Trujillo via rear-naked choke submission at UFC 181 “Hendricks vs. Lawler 2.”
Medeiros, 27, has bounced back from a three-fight winless streak with two straight submission victories. “The Kid” finished Damon Jackson via reverse bulldog choke at UFC 177 “Dillashaw vs. Soto,” then doubled up by tapping Joe Proctor with a guillotine at “The Ultimate Fighter 20” Finale to close out 2014.
