World Series of Fighting bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes will defend his title against Joseph Barajas on Feb. 20, the promotion announced Tuesday.
The fight will headline WSOF 28 at Next Level Sports Complex in Garden Grove, Calif. NBCSN will televise the event live beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and the telecast will feature a co-main event between 135-pound prospects Timur Valiev and Chris Gutierrez.
Moraes has won 10 in a row, with his last eight victories coming inside the WSOF cage. The Brazilian captured the organization’s 135-pound title by defeating Josh Rettinghouse via unanimous decision at WSOF 9 and has officially defended the crown twice. He last fought in August, where he submitted challenger Sheymon Moraes via rear-naked choke in the third round.
Barajas has looked equally impressive, having only lost once in 13 fights. He’s won his last two contests, with his most recent being his WSOF debut. He stopped Erik Villalobos via punches in the third at WSOF 25 in November.
