Brazilian knockout artist Patricky Freire will lock horns with the once-beaten Guillaume DeLorenzi in the Bellator Fighting Championships Season 8 lightweight tournament quarterfinals at Bellator 87 on Jan. 31 at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, Mount Pleasant, Mich.

The promotion on Saturday announced the tournament matchup, along with two others: Lloyd Woodard vs. David Rickels and Alexander Sarnavskiy vs. Thiago Michel Pereira Silva.

Freire (10-4, 3-3 Bellator) finds himself in serious need of a victory, as he will enter the cage on a two-fight losing streak. The 26-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt burst on the international scene in 2011, when he was a finalist in Bellator’s Season 4 tournament and scored highlight-reel knockouts on former World Extreme Cagefighting champion “Razor” Rob McCullough and Toby Imada. A Team Nogueira representative, Freire last appeared at Bellator 76, where he succumbed to a first-round head kicks and subsequent champion from onetime Bellator titleholder Eddie Alvarez.

DeLorenzi (10-1, 1-0 Bellator) made his promotional debut at Bellator 79 in November, when he submitted Jonny Carson with a rear-naked choke in the first round. The 28-year-old Canadian will carry a five-fight winning streak into the 155-pound tournament. DeLorenzi suffered his only career defeat to Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran War Machine in February 2009.

Bellator 87 will air live on Spike TV.
