Two Women’s Bouts Added to ‘The Ultimate Fighter 27’ Finale on July 6

Fan favorite Roxanne Modafferi is set to make her return to the Octagon for the first time since losing to Nicco Montano in the inaugural Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s flyweight championship fight.

Modafferi is a quintessential fans’ fighter, having been a pioneer in women’s mixed martial arts for over a decade. At “The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale,” Modafferi is set to meet her one-time ‘TUF’ castmate, and former Invicta Fighting Championships queen, Barb Honchak in a rematch of their 2011 fight. When the pair first met Honchak was victorious via submission, but Modafferi will be looking to tie the series on July 6.

Honchak owns a record of 10-3 and was eliminated from “TUF” by Montano, who was the eventual winner. Honchak lost a split-decision to Lauren Murphy at the Finale and will be eager to earn her first official Octagon win.

Another pair of UFC women’s flyweights will also fight on the card, as it has been announced that Montana De La Rosa will face Rachael Ostovich in a bout that could help either fighter become a name in the developing division.

The event will feature the lightweight and featherweight “TUF” tournament finals and will act as the conclusion of “TUF 27,” which is coached by Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
