Tyson Griffin Debuts Aug. 10 at WSOF 4 From Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

UFC veteran Tyson Griffin’s World Series of Fighting debut will take place at the Las Vegas-based promotion’s fourth event, which goes down Aug. 10 from the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

WSOF President Ray Sefo Thursday announced the news during a media conference call, also revealing that WSOF 5 will take place Sept. 14 in Atlantic City, N.J.

Griffin, 29, most recently competed in November of last year, outpointing fellow UFC veteran Efrain Escudero under the Resurrection Fighting Alliance banner. Griffin was released from his UFC deal in 2011 after losing four of his final five fights for the Zuffa-owned organization. The 29-year-old is a veteran of 22 pro fights and began his Octagon career with seven wins in his first nine UFC appearances.

Citizens Bank Arena opened in October 2008 and can house roughly 10,000 spectators for sporting event. The venue currently plays host to the ECHL’s Ontario Reign and PASL Ontario, a professional indoor soccer club.

The WSOF will host its third event on June 14 from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The show’s main draw airs live on NBC Sports Network and is headlined by a welterweight rematch between UFC vets Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman.
