UFC 109 Prelims to Air Live on Spike TV

Two UFC 109 preliminary bouts will air live on Spike TV Feb. 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT during a one-hour, commercial-free broadcast prior to the event’s pay-per-view.

Mac Danzig will meet Justin Buchholz in a lightweight contest, while 155-pounders Melvin Guillard and Ronnys Torres will face off live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Danzig, the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 6,” will look to right the ship after three consecutive defeats to Clay Guida, Josh Neer, and Jim Miller, who earned a unanimous decision over Danzig at UFC 100 last July in Las Vegas. Buchholz is in a similar predicament, having dropped three of his last four bouts in the Octagon, including a first-round TKO against Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 19 last September.

The heavy-hitting Guillard, known for his fast-paced style, lost his most recent outing to Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 19, which snapped a three-fight win streak. Nova Uniao’s Torres, making his UFC debut, had won his last eight bouts, including two back-to-back victories for Jungle Fight against Luiz Azeredo and Eliene Silva.
