Shane Carwin exited the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., with more than just the UFC interim heavyweight championship around his waist.

The undefeated Carwin smacked around Mir in close quarters, as he jarred the former champion with a series of vicious left uppercuts against the cage and dropped Mir where he stood. Mir tried to whether the storm, but Carwin throttled him with punches from behind and left him facedown and defenseless. Based at the Grudge Training Center, the 35-year-old Carwin has stopped all 12 of his opponents inside one round.
EliteXC veteran Jared Hamman and Rodney Wallace also benefited from the UFC’s post-fight windfall, as they banked matching $65,000 bonuses for “Fight of the Night.” Hamman earned a unanimous nod from the judges -- 29-28 on all three scorecards -- in his second UFC appearance, his victory highlighted by a first-round head kick that turned the tide in his favor.
Finally, Kurt Pellegrino earned a $65,000 “Submission of the Night” bonus after he stopped fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Fabricio Camoes with a second-round rear-naked choke. Camoes met his demise 4:20 into round two.
Pellegrino took down Camoes in the second round and mounted the Brazilian briefly before they returned to their feet. “Batman” landed several knees to the head, grounded Camoes again and went to work on the choke. The tapout followed after a brief struggle, as Camoes tapped out for the first time in nearly five years.
