Four men walked away from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with $70,000 apiece in post-fight bonuses following UFC 130 “Jackson vs. Hamill.”
Tibau secured his bonus check when he found the throat of Oliveira exposed in the second round of their 155-pound contest. Following a competitive first frame, the muscled Brazilian secured the back of his thinner countryman, sinking his hooks and pounding away at the ears and jaw of Oliveira. Tibau used the strikes to set up a textbook rear-naked choke, forcing Oliveira to tap at 3:28 of round two.
Browne handed Struve the third loss of his career in spectacular fashion, as the Hawaii native countered a kick from the Dutch “Skyscraper” with a colossal right straight. The punch snapped back Struve’s head back and sent him freefalling toward the canvas. Browne attempted to follow up on the ground, but any further violence was unnecessary, as Struve lost consciousness before he hit the floor.
The first frame of Stann and Santiago’s 185-pound clash was evenly matched until the former U.S. Marine clipped the ex-Sengoku champ with a leaping left hook that sent Santiago reeling to the mat. Though the Brazilian immediately shot for a takedown, Stann finished the round on top, pounding away with punches. Round two saw both men again exchange standing before Stann landed the fight-ending right hand that buckled Santiago’s knees and forced referee Herb Dean to intervene.
