UFC 154 Bonuses: GSP, Condit, Hendricks, Menjivar Pocket $70,000 Apiece

Four men walked away from UFC 154 with post-fight bonuses on Saturday night, as Georges St. Pierre, Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks and Ivan Menjivar each pocketed an additional $70,000 for their efforts.

St. Pierre and Condit shared “Fight of the Night” honors for their bloody welterweight title headliner at Montreal’s Bell Centre, while Hendricks (Pictured, file photo) and Menjivar were awarded “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” for their respective first-round finishes of Martin Kampmann and Azamat Gashimov.

St. Pierre cemented his status as the sport’s top 170-pounder, returning from a torn ACL to take a unanimous decision from interim champion Condit. “The Natural Born Killer” did not go down without a fight, however, as Condit floored St. Pierre with a high kick in the third round and tried to finish the French-Canadian with ground-and-pound. The resilient St. Pierre managed to weather the storm, recovering from the shot and return to his feet before securing the decision judges’ decision by decisively winning the championship rounds.

While the main event proved a grueling, five-round affair, Hendricks managed to halt the evening’s co-headliner in just 46 seconds, perhaps earning himself a welterweight title shot in the process. “Bigg Rigg” put his considerable punching power to good use against Kampmann, dropping the highly-regarded Dane with a sledgehammer left hook before finishing the job with one well-placed punch to the mug of his prone foe.

During the evening’s preliminary card, Menjivar used his considerable experience advantage to defeat Octagon newcomer Gashimov. Though the 22-year-old Russian managed to score a takedown in the bout’s opening minutes, “The Pride of El Salvador” patiently countered with a straight armbar off his back, going belly down and forcing Gashimov to tap out at 2:44 of the opening frame.
