UFC 160 Medical Suspensions: Mark Hunt, 6 Others Facing Potential 6-Month Suspensions

Seven of the fighters who competed at UFC 160 could find themselves sidelined for up to six months, including co-headlining heavyweight Mark Hunt.

Hunt -- along with Glover Teixeira, Gray Maynard, Dennis Bermudez, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Stephen Thompson and Brian Bowles -- will be sidelined until Nov. 22 unless medically cleared to compete before that date.

The Nevada Athletic Commission on Tuesday sent Sherdog.com the medical suspension information. Of the 24 fighters who saw action on May 25, a total of 15 received some type of medical suspension from the NAC. UFC 160 took place this past Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and was headlined by a heavyweight title showdown between reigning champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Antonio Silva, who received a one-month layoff after suffering a first-round technical knockout.

Hunt, meanwhile, was stopped by Junior dos Santos in the evening’s co-main event, succumbing to a third-round spinning hook kick. Despite the devastating finish, Hunt’s six-month suspension came as the result of a broken right big toe. In victory, dos Santos was suspended until June 25 due to a laceration on his right eyebrow.

Teixeira, Thompson, Bermudez and Bowles will now undergo x-rays on various limbs, while Maynard must receive ophthalmological clearance on his right eye. Additionally, Nurmagomedov must have his left knee cleared by an orthopedist if he hopes to compete prior to Nov. 22.
