UFC 162 Bonuses: Weidman, Edgar, Oliveira, Swanson, Siver Bank $50K Each

Five men walked away from UFC 162 with post-fight bonus money, as Chris Weidman, Frankie Edgar, Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson and Dennis Siver each pocketed an additional $50,000 for their efforts on Saturday night.

Weidman picked up “Knockout of the Night” for his title-winning finish of middleweight champion Anderson Silva, while Edgar, Oliveira, Swanson and Siver shared “Fight of the Night” honors following their three-round featherweight affairs. As no submissions were scored tonight, a “Submission of the Night” bonus was not awarded. UFC 162 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena and Las Vegas, and the evening’s main card aired live on pay-per-view.

Weidman, 29, dispatched Silva in the second round of the evening’s main event, starching the clowning champion with a crisp left hook to the jaw as Silva lazily circled away from a four-punch combination. The defeat marks Silva’s first UFC loss and snaps a 17-fight winning streak which began in April 2006 with a vicious knockout of Tony Fryklund.

In the evening’s co-main event, Edgar returned to his winning ways by taking a unanimous decision over a game Oliveira. “The Answer” continually found a home for his right hand while navigating the Brazilian’s long reach, staggering “Charles do Bronx” several times throughout the contest en route to Edgar’s first victory since October 2011, when he knocked out Gray Maynard to retain the lightweight championship at UFC 136.

Swanson opened the pay-per-view broadcast with an impressive performance, weathering a slow start to later knock Siver senseless in the third round. After finding himself underneath the German for much of round one, Swanson began to put his combinations together later in the bout, flooring his foe with a solid combination in the final frame before pounding Siver into near unconsciousness with ground-and-pound.
