Four men took home an extra $50,000 on Saturday night, as Anthony Perosh, Sergio Moraes, Ian McCall and Iliarde Santos all earned post-fight bonuses at UFC 163.
Perosh and Moraes picked up “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” for their respective finishes of Vinny Magalhaes and Neil Magny, while McCall and Santos shared “Fight of the Night” honors for their 15-minute flyweight scrap. UFC 163 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and saw Jose Aldo retain his featherweight title in the main event.
Prior to the evening’s pay-per-view offering, the preliminary card came to a close with Perosh’s upset of fellow grappler Magalhaes, who met his demise in 14 seconds after running into a stiff right hand from “The Hippo.” Perosh sealed the deal with ground-and-pound, picking up his fifth career victory via knockout or TKO.
Moraes took slightly longer to finish Magny but accomplished his goal just the same. The Brazilian took “TUF 16” vet Magny to the mat and passed to mount before locking up a beautiful, fight-ending triangle choke a little more than three minutes into the opening frame.
McCall and Santos put on a show at 125 pounds, with “Uncle Creepy” sticking his opponent with jabs from the outside while Santos hurled heavy shots at McCall’s cranium. In the end, it was the American who saw his hand raised, earning scores of 29-28 and 30-27 (twice).
