Abel Trujillo took home $125,000 in bonus money from UFC 169 following his second-round knockout of Jamie Varner, who was awarded $75,000 in defeat.

Trujillo and Varner shared “Fight of the Night” honors, which earned them each $75,000, but Trujillo was also awarded a $50,000 “Knockout of the Night” bonus. As no submissions were recorded at Saturday night’s event, no submission bonus was handed out at the post-fight press conference.

UFC 169 took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and was headlined by bantamweight champion Renan Barao’s first-round stoppage of Urijah Faber. Barao’s teammate, Jose Aldo, successfully defended his featherweight title in the evening’s co-main event, cruising to a unanimous decision victory over Ricardo Lamas.

Following seven straight decisions to start Saturday’s card, Varner and Trujillo appeared hell-bent on delivering a finish to open the pay-per-view broadcast. The lightweights did not disappoint, trading heavy shots over the course of the contest. Though Varner managed to hurt Trujillo in the second frame, “Killa” would not give up, weathering the storm and knocking Varner cold with a dynamite right hand.
