Johnson tipped the scales at 124.5 pounds for his five-round defense of the flyweight championship against Cariaso (124.5) in the UFC 178 main event on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Lightweight co-headliners Donald Cerrone (155) and Eddie Alvarez (155) also met their contracted weight requirements without issue at Friday’s official weigh-in.
UFC 178 “Johnson vs. Cariaso” -- which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT -- will also feature a featherweight scrap pairing former two-division Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder Conor McGregor (145.5) with Dustin Poirier (145.5), a middleweight clash pitting Tim Kennedy (185) against American Top Team’s Yoel Romero (185) and a women’s bantamweight battle matching the undefeated Cat Zingano (135) with Amanda Nunes (135).
Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will carry four preliminary bouts: Dominick Cruz (134) vs. Takeya Mizugaki (136), Jorge Masvidal (155) vs. James Krause (155), Patrick Cote (170.5) vs. Stephen Thompson (170) and John Howard (170) vs. Brian Ebersole (170.5).
