A heavyweight clash between Travis Browne and Brendan Schaub has been added to the UFC 181 lineup.
A UFC official confirmed the matchup to Sherdog.com following an initial report from Fox Sports. UFC 181 takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Dec. 6 and features a pair of title fights, as Chris Weidman defends his middleweight strap against Vitor Belfort, and reigning lightweight king Anthony Pettis squares off with Gilbert Melendez.
Browne last appeared at UFC on Fox 11, where he dropped a five-round verdict to Fabricio Werdum in a title eliminator bout. That defeat halted a hot streak for “Hapa,” who had posted first-round finishes of Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett in his previous three outings.
Schaub most recently lost a controversial split decision to Andrei Arlovski in a tepid affair at UFC 174. Prior to that setback, the newly nicknamed “Big Brown” went 2-0 in 2013, outpointing Lavar Johnson at UFC 157 before submitting Matt Mitrione at UFC 165.
