Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to bolster UFC 184 in Los Angeles with a middleweight matchup featuring Yoel Romero against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
UFC officials announced the pairing Thursday, emphasizing that verbal agreements for the fight are in place. The Feb. 28 pay-per-view emanates from the Staples Center and already features two title fights between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort, as well as Ronda Rousey versus Cat Zingano.
Romero will come into the Octagon riding a five-fight winning streak, including a controversial technical knockout victory against Tim Kennedy at UFC 178. “Soldier of God” is undefeated under the UFC banner, and of his nine wins, eight have been finished before reaching the judges’ scorecards.
A winner of seven consecutive bouts, “Jacare” is also undefeated since joining the UFC ranks from Strikeforce. The 34-year-old Brazilian is most recently coming off an impressive guillotine choke win against Gegard Mousasi at UFC Fight Night “Jacare vs. Mousasi 2.”
