Mike Pyle will face Sean Spencer in welterweight action at UFC 187 “Jones vs. Johnson” on May 23.
The promotion announced the new addition on Saturday. UFC 187 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a light heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Anthony Johnson. In the co-main event, Chris Weidman defends his middleweight strap against Vitor Belfort.
Pyle, 39, has been finished in two of his last three Octagon appearances, most recently falling in 72 seconds against Jordan Mein at UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. dos Anjos.” The EliteXC, WEC, Strikeforce, and Affliction veteran has been competing for the UFC since 2009, accruing a record of 9-5.
Spencer, 27, is 3-3 since signing with the Las Vegas-based promotion in 2013. “Black Magic” was last in action against Cathal Pendred at UFC Fight Night “McGregor vs. Siver,” where he was on the wrong end of a controversial unanimous decision. Prior to his current UFC stint, Spencer competed from nine different MMA promotions, including Bellator MMA and Legacy Fighting Championship.
