UFC 194 Medical Suspensions: McGregor, Rockhold Facing Potential 6-Month Layoffs

As dominant as they were at UFC 194, both Conor McGregor and Luke Rockhold could be facing a significant time on the shelf following their victories.

McGregor, who knocked out Jose Aldo at in the main event on Saturday to become the promotion’s new featherweight champion, must have his left wrist x-rayed and cleared by a doctor or he will not be allowed to compete until June 12.

Rockhold, who stopped Chris Weidman via technical knockout 3:12 into the fourth round of the co-headliner, is also facing a six-month suspension unless he receives x-ray clearance of his left foot and ankle. At the minimum, Rockhold cannot have contact until Jan. 3 and can’t compete until Jan. 12.

The Nevada Athletic Commission recently provided a list of medical suspensions from the Dec. 12 event, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Seven other fighters are also facing six-month sits after Staurday’s card: Weidman (feet), Ronaldo Souza (left forearm), Urijah Faber (knee, ankle, thumb), Tecia Torres (left thumb), Colby Covington (chest), Yancy Medeiros (knee), John Makdessi (thumb).

Conor McGregor: requires x-ray of left wrist, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12

Luke Rockhold: requires x-ray of left foot/ankle, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/12, no contact until 01/03

Chris Weidman: requires x-rays of both feet, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 02/11, no contact until 01/27

Ronaldo Souza: Requires x-ray of left forearm, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/12, no contact until 01/03

Urijah Faber: Requires MRI of left knee, x-rays of right ankle and left thumb, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/27, no contact until 01/12

Tecia Torres: Requires x-ray of left thumb, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/12, no contact until 01/03

Colby Covington: Requires CT Scan or MRI of right chest wall, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/12, no contact until 01/03

Yancy Medeiros: Requires right knee sprain to be cleared by orthopedic doctor or no contest until 06/12; minimum no contest until 01/12, no contact until 01/03 due to left toe pain

John Makdessi: Requires x-ray of right thumb, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12

Jose Aldo: Suspended until 02/11, no contact until 01/27

Gunnar Nelson: Suspended until 01/27, no contact until 01/12 due to nasal bridge laceration

Frankie Saenz: Suspended until 01/27, no contact until 01/12

Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger: Suspended until 01/27, no contact until 01/12
