Erik Koch has withdrawn from a proposed UFC 195 bout with Drew Dober due to injury. Promotion officials on Friday announced that Scott Holtzman will replace Koch in the lightweight clash. UFC 195 takes place on Jan. 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a welterweight championship showdown between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit.
Holtzman is unbeaten in eight professional bouts, including a third-round tapout of Anthony Christodoulou in his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night in Nashville on Aug. 8. The Knoxville, Tenn., native known as “Hot Sauce” spends part of his training camps at the MMA Lab in Arizona.
Dober has one just once in his last five outings, a first-round submission of Jamie Varner at UFC on Fox 13 in December 2014. He last appeared at UFC 188, tapping to an Efrain Escudero guillotine choke 54 seconds into the opening stanza of their fight.
Koch has not competed since May 10, 2014, when he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Daron Cruickshank at UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva.”
