Julian Erosa will face Teruto Ishihara in a featherweight clash at UFC 196, promotion officials recently announced.
UFC 196 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 5 and is headlined by a lightweight title tilt between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor. In the co-main event, Holly Holm defends the bantamweight crown against Miesha Tate.
Erosa, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 22,” made a successful Octagon debut at the reality show’s finale on Dec. 11, as he took a split verdict over Marcin Wrzosek. That was the fifth straight win for the Erosa, who is 15-2 as a professional overall.
Ishihara, meanwhile, battled Mizuto Hirota to a split draw in his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night “Barnett vs. Nelson” this past September. The 24-year-old Osaka, Japan, native has compiled a 7-2-2 mark over the course of his career, including six triumphs by knockout or technical knockout.
