Ultimate Fighting Championship has signed Legacy FC heavyweight titlist Cody East to face Walt Harris at UFC 197.
The bout was announced during the most recent edition of the promotion’s YouTube series ”Lookin’ For a Fight.” The heavyweight contest will serve as the featured preliminary matchup on UFC Fight Pass. UFC 197 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 23 and is headlined by an interim light heavyweight title tilt between Jon Jones and Ovince St. Preux.
East makes his promotional debut on a nine-fight winning streak, including three victories under the Legacy FC banner. The 27-year-old New Mexico native has won 12 of his 13 career professional bouts, finishing all but one inside the distance.
Harris is still searching for his first Octagon triumph after suffering losses to Soa Palelei, Nikita Krylov and Jared Rosholt in his first three appearances. “The Big Ticket” has not competed since a second-round TKO defeat to Palelei at UFC Fight Night “Rockhold vs. Bisping” in November 2014.
