A middleweight clash between Vitor Miranda and Marcelo Guimaraes is set for UFC 197.
The promotion announced the pairing on Tuesday. UFC 197 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 5 and is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor.
Miranda fought at heavyweight on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3” and lost a unanimous decision to Antonio Carlos Jr. at the show’s finale. He has since rebounded to post back-to-back technical knockout triumphs against Jake Collier and Clint Hester in his last two Octagon appearances.
Guimaraes, meanwhile, hasn’t competed since June 2014, when he captured a split-decision triumph over Andy Enz. The 32-year-old Brazilian has fought just three times since joining the promotion in 2012, including a split verdict over Daniel Stittgen in his debut at UFC on Fuel TV 4 and a second-round knockout loss to Hyun Gyu Lim at UFC on Fuel TV 8.
