John Makdessi will lock horns with Mehdi Baghdad at UFC 199 on June 4.
Promotion officials announced the lightweight bout on Friday. UFC 199 takes place at the Forum in Los Angeles and is headlined by a middleweight title rematch between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman. In the co-main event, Dominick Cruz defends the bantamweight belt against Urijah Faber.
Makdessi has lost three of his last four bouts, including a split-decision setback against Yancy Medeiros in his most recent outing at UFC 194. The Tristar Gym export is 6-5 in the Octagon overall and owns notable wins over Daron Cruickshank and Sam Stout.
A cast member of “The Ultimate Fighter 22,” Baghdad came up short in his promotional debut, as he was submitted by Chris Wade in the first round at UFC Fight Night in Boston. “The Sultan” owns an 11-4 career mark, with all of his victories coming by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
