The middleweight pairing was initially reported by khon.com, and both fighters subsequently confirmed the matchup via Twitter. UFC 203 takes place at Quicken Loans Arena on Sept. 10 and is headlined by a heavyweight championship bout between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem.
Tavares, who will fight for the first time since May 2015, has lost three of his last four Octagon appearances. The 28-year-old Hawaiian last appeared at UFC Fight Night “Miocic vs. Hunt,” where he suffered a 44-second knockout loss to Robert Whitaker. The Xtreme Couture representative is 8-4 over the course of a promotional tenure that began in 2010.
Magalhaes, meanwhile, saw a four-fight winning streak snapped in a first-round submission loss to Josh Samman at “The Ultimate Fighter 21” finale approximately one year ago. “Hellboy” was suspended for six months for spitting blood at Samman after the defeat, but his expected return at UFC on Fox 19 earlier this year was derailed due to injury.
