Meanwhile, Thompson defeated Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision in a featured welterweight bout. “Wonderboy” was rumored for a matchup with Darren Till early next year, but the South Carolina native hurt both thumbs against Masvidal and must see a doctor to determine the extent of the injury. Masvidal received a mandatory seven-day medical suspension.
The longest suspensions on the card were given to Alexey
Oleynik and Aiemann
Zahabi, who both received 90-day layoffs. Oleynik lost to
Curtis
Blaydes via second-round doctor stoppage in a heavyweight bout,
while Zahabi fell victim to a spinning back elbow from Ricardo
Lucas Ramos in the third round of their bantamweight duel.
The NYSAC does not reveal the exact nature of the medical suspensions due to medical privacy laws.
