Georges St. Pierre and Stephen Thompson are both facing potential 45-day layoffs following UFC 217.
The New York State Athletic Commission released a list of medical suspensions from the event on Wednesday. UFC 217 took place at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 4 and saw St. Pierre submit Michael Bisping in the third round to claim the middleweight title. Bisping, who cut St. Pierre with elbows from his back after being taken down in round three, was handed a 30-day sit by the NYSAC.
Meanwhile, Thompson defeated Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision in a featured welterweight bout. “Wonderboy” was rumored for a matchup with Darren Till early next year, but the South Carolina native hurt both thumbs against Masvidal and must see a doctor to determine the extent of the injury. Masvidal received a mandatory seven-day medical suspension.
The longest suspensions on the card were given to Alexey Oleynik and Aiemann Zahabi, who both received 90-day layoffs. Oleynik lost to Curtis Blaydes via second-round doctor stoppage in a heavyweight bout, while Zahabi fell victim to a spinning back elbow from Ricardo Lucas Ramos in the third round of their bantamweight duel.
The NYSAC does not reveal the exact nature of the medical suspensions due to medical privacy laws.
