Kamaru Usman will attempt to claim his seventh consecutive Octagon triumph when he faces Emil Weber Meek at UFC 219.
The welterweight bout was first reported by Farah Hannoun via Twitter. UFC 219 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 30 and will also include a pivotal bantamweight showdown between Dominick Cruz and Jimmie Rivera.
The 29-year-old Usman has established himself as one of the top rising talents in the UFC at 170 pounds. Thus far in 2017, “The Nigerian Nightmare” has gone 2-0 with a first-round knockout of Sergio Moraes at UFC Fight Night 116 and a decision win over Sean Strickland at UFC 210.
Meek, meanwhile, was propelled into the Las Vegas-based promotion on the strength of a 45-second knockout of Rousimar Palhares at Venator FC 3. He then debuted in the Octagon with a decision win over Jordan Mein at UFC 206 to improve to 9-2-1 as a professional.
