“Ireland has been such an important market to the UFC and we couldn’t let a year go by without delivering another spectacular event for the fans in the capital,” said Joe Carr, Vice President of International for UFC. “We’re looking forward to showcasing both local and international talent at the event and hopefully getting the decibel counter higher this year round.”

The Las Vegas-based promotion last visited Ireland’s capital with an event headlined by a featherweight clash between Conor McGregor and Diego Brandao at the O2 on July 19, 2014. The venue sold out and the atmosphere was widely praised as McGregor stopped Brandao via technical knockout 4:05 into the first round.

That night helped to serve as a launching pad for McGregor’s career. The Irishman won two more fights after defeating Brandao and will face Chad Mendes for the interim 145-pound title at UFC 189 on July 11.
