UFC Brazil VP and GM Giovani Decker Resigns from Company
Giovani Decker, the UFC’s vice president and general manager in
Brazil, has resigned from his position after a little more than a
year with the company.
The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed that Decker “has resigned to pursue opportunities outside of the organization.” Decker was hired in March 2015, replacing Grace Tourinho. A replacement for Decker has not been announced.
During Decker’s tenure, the promotion held five events in Brazil.
Notable cards during that time included UFC 190, which headlined by
Ronda
Rousey and Bethe
Correia, and the massive UFC 198 event in Curitiba this past
May, which was topped by a heavyweight tite clash between Fabricio
Werdum and Stipe
Miocic.
Prior to joining the UFC, Decker served as the president for athletic apparel company ASICS’ Brazilian branch. He also previously held a position as commercial manager with Brazilian footwear and sporting goods company Calcados Azaleia.
The UFC’s next Brazilian event is set for Nov. 19 in Sao Paulo with a card headlined by light heavyweights Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ryan Bader.
