UFC Champion Jon Jones’ DWI Sentencing Rescheduled for July 3 in New York

Jon Jones was expected to be sentenced Tuesday for one misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated in Binghamton, N.Y., but the proceeding has instead been rescheduled for July 3.

Sherdog.com confirmed the change with Binghamton City Court officials this afternoon following an initial report from PressConnects.com.

The UFC light heavyweight champion pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor count on May 29, striking a deal with the Broome County District Attorney’s office during his arraignment. Jones was arrested on suspicion of DWI in the early morning hours of May 19 after driving his Bentley into a utility pole.

As part of his plea, Jones had his driving license suspended and was ordered to undergo an alcohol abuse and dependency evaluation prior to his sentencing date. An additional traffic violation for making an improper turn was also dismissed.

Jones, 24, will next defend his light heavyweight championship against former Strikeforce and Pride Fighting Championships titlist Dan Henderson on Sept. 1 at UFC 151.
