Featherweight contender Alexander Volkanovski is home after being hospitalized with a blood infection last week.

After defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 237 in Rio de Janeiro, the Australian fighter had to be treated at a hospital in Santiago, Chile, after complaining of sore feet, redness in his left foot and feeling ill.

Volkanovski recently provided a couple of updates on his condition.

“The infection is starting to go down now. It was pretty nasty before; the infection was pretty bad…my ankle, foot and leg was very swollen. We worried about it being in the tendons, but we got the message that it’s not in the tendons…the worst is done, which is good,” Volkanovski revealed in a video post over the weekend.

On Monday, Volkanovski revealed that he had finally made it back home.

It is currently unclear how long “The Great” will be sidelined during his recovery. Volkanovski’s triumph over Aldo increased his overall winning streak to 17 — a run that includes five triumphs in the Octagon. However, he was bypassed for the next 145-pound title shot, as Max Holloway will defend his crown against Frankie Edgar at UFC 240.
