It was a tale of two rounds between Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 105.
The heavyweights received “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their battle in Sunday’s headliner at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. While Browne had Lewis reeling with a series of kicks to the body in the opening period, “The Black Beast” rallied and floored his foe with a right hook to the head in the second stanza before finishing the contest with ground-and-pound at the 3:12 mark.
Elsewhere, Paul Felder garnered a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his first-round knockout of Alessandro Ricci in a featured lightweight clash. “The Irish Dragon” caught Ricci moving forward with a vertical elbow and then finished the contest with a knee strike and follow-up punches 4:44 into round one.
Finally, a highlight reel finish earned Thiago Santos the evening’s other $50,000 performance bonus in a second-round stoppage of Jack Marshman. The Brazilian survived being dropped in the opening period by an overhand right, as he connected with a spinning wheel kick and polished off Marshman with follow-up punches on the mat 2:21 into round two.
