Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov will lock horns in the featured bout of UFC Fight Night 109 in Nashville on April 22.
The featherweight clash was revealed during the UFC 208 preliminary broadcast on Saturday night. UFC Fight Night 109 takes place at Bridgestone Arena and will also include the following contests: Diego Sanchez vs. Al Iaquinta at lightweight; Scott Holtzman vs. Michael McBride at lightweight; Matt Schnell vs. Hector Sandoval at flyweight; Brandon Moreno vs. Dustin Ortiz at flyweight; Sam Alvey vs. Thales Leites at middleweight and Jessica Penne vs. Danielle Taylor at strawweight.
Swanson won his third straight fight at UFC 206, taking a unanimous decision over Korean prospect Doo Ho Choi in one of the best bouts of 2016. Prior to that victory, Swanson captured unanimous verdicts over Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hacran Dias.
A training partner of lightweight king Conor McGregor, Lobov rebounded from defeats in his first two Octagon appearances to score consecutive decision victories over Teruto Ishihara and Chris Avila in his last two outings.. “The Russian Hammer” is 13-12-1 with one no contest over the course of his professional career.
