Mike Perry’s penchant for spectacular knockouts is becoming a lucrative business.
“Platinum” garnered a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for his first-round finish of short-notice foe Alex Reyes in a featured welterweight affair. A knee in the clinch dropped Reyes, and Perry landed one follow-up hammerfist before the contest was waved off 79 seconds after it began.
Meanwhile, Uriah Hall received the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for a come-from-behind victory over Krzysztof Jotko in a preliminary middleweight showdown. After nearly being finished in round one, Hall countered a Jotko jab with an overhand right and finished the contest with follow-up punches on the canvas 2:25 into round two.
Finally Gregor Gillespie and Jason Gonzalez earned “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for a wildly entertaining lightweight scrap. The combatants engaged in several furious exchanges in the opening round, with Gillespie dropping his foe with a right hand on one occasion. In round two, Gillespie landed a takedown, move to full mount and submitted Gonzalez with an arm-triangle choke at the 2:11 mark.
