Prior to his UFC Fight Night 118 headliner against Darren Till, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was already talking up the fact he was tentatively penciled in already for a bout at UFC 219 on Dec. 30. Those optimistic plans have taken a hit.
Cerrone, who claimed shortly after the bout that the undefeated Till had broken his nose en route to a Round 1 stoppage, will be suspended for 180 days unless he is cleared by a maxillofacial specialist. Even if cleared, “Cowboy” will be suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days.
Other fighters facing a possible 180-day suspensions pending medical clearance are: middleweight Sam Alvey (right knee); light heavyweights Jan Blachowicz (left foot) and Devin Clark (right calf and elbow); and bantamweight Damian Stasiak (right knee).
All fighters who competed at UFC Fight Night 118 are subject to minimum seven-day suspensions.
