UFC Fight Night 33 Weigh-In Results: Mark Hunt, Antonio Silva Official for Main Event

Mark Hunt has zeroed in on another big fish in the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight division.

The 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix winner tipped the scales at 262 pounds for his battle with Antonio Silva (264) in the UFC Fight Night 33 main event on Friday at the Brisbane Entertainment Center in Brisbane, Australia. Light heavyweight co-headliners Mauricio Rua (205) and James Te Huna (205) also met their contracted weight requirements without incident at Thursday’s official weigh-in.

Hunt last appeared at UFC 160 in May, when his four-fight winning streak was rudely interrupted by a spinning hook kick from Junior dos Santos at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The 39-year-old kiwi has compiled a 4-2 mark since arriving in the UFC in September 2010, his unexpected resurgence supplying the MMA world with one of its most improbable storylines. Hunt remains the only man to defeat both 2006 Pride Fighting Championships open weight grand prix winner Mirko Filipovic and former Pride 205-pound titleholder Wanderlei Silva.

“Bigfoot,” meanwhile, has not competed since he fell short in his bid to unseat heavyweight boss Cain Velasquez at UFC 160. Still regarded as one of the world’s top 5 heavyweights, the 34-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has secured 16 of his 18 career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Victories over onetime Strikeforce titleholder Alistair Overeem, Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko and fast-rising Hawaiian Travis Browne anchor the Silva resume, which also includes wins against two former UFC champions: Andrei Arlovski and Ricco Rodriguez.

UFC Fight Night 33 “Hunt vs. Bigfoot” -- which airs live on Fox Sports 1 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT -- will also feature a light heavyweight scrap pairing “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Ryan Bader (205) with Anthony Perosh (205), a heavyweight duel pitting Pat Barry (237) against Soa Palelei (264), a middleweight clash matching Dylan Andrews (185) with Clint Hester (186) and a women’s bantamweight tilt between Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts representative Julie Kedzie (135) and the undefeated Bethe Correia (135).

Two hours prior, Fox Sports 2 will also carry four preliminary bouts: Takeya Mizugaki (135) vs. Nam Phan (135), Nick Ring (185) vs. Caio Magalhaes (186), Richie Vaculik (126) vs. Justin Scoggins (125) and Bruno Santos (185) vs. Krzysztof Jotko (185). The remaining undercard matchup will stream to the UFC’s Facebook page at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT, as “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” alum Ben Wall (168) meets Alex Garcia (170).
