UFC Fight Night 96 Medical Suspensions: Will Brooks Gets Indefinite Layoff

By Tristen Critchfield Oct 4, 2016

Former Bellator MMA champion Will Brooks has been suspended indefinitely following his loss to Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland, Ore., this past weekend.

Brooks must provide ER documentation and provide evidence of physical clearance before he can fight again. “Ill Will” suffered a third-round technical knockout loss to Oliveira in Saturday’s co-main event at the Moda Center. After the bout, Brooks confirmed on Twitter that he broke his rib in the first round of the bout against the larger Oliveira, who missed weight by 5.5 pounds the previous day.

The Oregon State Athletic Commission recently released a full list of medical suspensions to MMAjunkie.com. The evening’s headliner saw John Lineker take a hard-fought split decision over John Dodson at bantamweight. Lineker was suspended 30 days with 21 days of no contact, while Dodson got a precautionary seven-day sit.
