UFC Fight Night 98 Weigh-in Results: ‘Do Bronx’ Misses Weight by 9 Pounds

After nearly a month away from the spotlight in terms of live action, the world’s most powerful mixed martial arts promotion finally returns with another card. The Ultimate Fighting Championship heads down to Mexico City on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 98 “Ferguson vs. Dos-Anjos” (current odds) and the event is loaded with intriguing bouts from top to bottom.

The main event will see a lightweight battle between former champion Rafael dos Anjos looking to bounce back from a loss to Eddie Alvarez when he takes on Tony Ferguson. At Friday’s weigh-ins, both combatants made weight, as did everybody else on the bill. “El Cucuy” first stepped to the scale and came in officially at 154 pounds. The Brazilian followed suit and came in on the money; dos Anjos weighed in at 156 pounds.

Submission savant and longtime Bellator MMA veteran Marcin Held will make his UFC debut as well, but his first bout in the Octagon will not be an easy task. The Pole will take on one of the toughest dudes in the sport: Diego Sanchez. Both men made weight as Held came in at 156 pounds while “Nightmare” weighed 156.

Also of note at Friday’s early weigh-ins, Charles Oliveira (155) missed weight for the fifth time in his UFC tenure, this time coming in a whopping nine pounds over the featherweight limit of 146. His opponent Ricardo Lamas hit the mark at 146. The Brazilian will be fined and the bout will proceed as of publication time.

UFC Fight Night 98 goes down at Mexico City Arena and will begin on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. From there, the action switches to FS1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will remain on the sports cable network for the remainder of the night.
