Benson Henderson, Brandon Thatch, Ray Borg and Neil Magny each earned an additional $50,000 for their efforts at UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. Thatch” on Saturday night.
The 10-fight event took place at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo., and aired on Fox Sports 1.
Henderson took the fight against Thatch on short notice and made his welterweight debut in the process. “Rukus” started hot early and seemed to have things under control, but Thatch punched himself out towards the latter stages of the five-round bout. With plenty of 25-minute fights under his belt, it was Henderson who earned the slick, fourth-round submission win via rear-naked choke. In the end, both main eventers earned a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus.
Magny earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus with his sixth consecutive victory. The 27-year-old was never in danger against Kiichi Kunimoto and seems poised to have as good of a run in 2015 as he did in 2014.
Borg handed Chris Kelades his first UFC loss and earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus. “The Tazmexican Devil” has bounced back from a loss in his promotional debut against Dustin Ortiz and won two straight tilt. His kimura win over his Canadian counterpart also nabbed Borg his second straight bonus.
