Joe Lauzon, Michael Chiesa, Ronaldo Souza and Ben Rothwell earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at UFC Fight Night “Jacare vs. Mousasi 2” on Friday.
The bonus is the 13th for Lauzon, the most in Ultimate Fighting Championship history.
Souza captured one of the evening’s $50,000 performance awards, as he tapped out adversary Gegard Mousasi with a guillotine choke with roughly 90 seconds remaining in the third round of the middleweight main event. The Brazilian caught the choke with Mousasi in a seated position, closed guard and secured the finish.
Rothwell garnered his $50,000 performance bonus for a first-round knockout of Alistair Overeem. The Wisconsin native weathered Overeem’s pinpoint shots, cracked him with a right hand to the temple and followed him to the canvas, closing out the most significant victory of his career with a smattering of right hands that forced referee Keith Peterson to act.
