Neil Magny keeps on winning fights. Now his bank account is beginning to reflect that success.
The Grudge Training Center product earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his victory over Hyun Gyu Lim in their featured welterweight clash at UFC Fight Night “Edgar vs. Faber” at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on Saturday. Magny put a halt to the welterweight bout with punches from mount 1:24 into the second stanza for his seventh consecutive win.
Meanwhile, Jon Tuck garnered the evening’s other $50,000 performance bonus for his work against Tae Hyun Bang in a preliminary lightweight affair. After missing a high kick, “Super Saiyan” floored his opponent with a follow-up right hook. From there, Tuck eventually worked his way in position for a fight-ending rear-naked choke to secure a tapout 3:56 into round two.
Elsewhere, Jon delos Reyes and Roldan Sangcha-an received “Fight of the Night” honors – and $50,000 apiece – for their rollicking Fight Pass scrap. The two flyweights went back and forth in round one before Reyes turned the tide in the second period. Reyes knocked Sangcha-an’s mouthguard free with a hard right hand before transitioning to his foe’s back for the decisive rear-naked choke at the 3:13 mark.
