Frank Mir, Sam Alvey, Marion Reneau and Matt Dwyer each earned an additional $50,000 for their efforts at UFC Fight Night “Bigfoot vs. Mir” on Sunday night.
The 11-fight event took place at Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and aired on Fox Sports 1. The Ultimate Fighting Championship did not issue a “Fight of the Night” bonus.
Mir is best known for his submission work, but it was his striking that earned him a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus in Sunday’s main event. The former UFC champion caught Antonio Silva with a left hand in the first round that dropped “Bigfoot.” Mir then pounced and landed elbows that forced referee Mario Yamasaki to wave off the fight.
Alvey earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus with his second consecutive knockout victory. The 28-year-old was never in danger against Cezar Ferreira, calmly awaiting the right moment to clock his opponent with a punch that sent him face-first into the canvas.
Reneau finished Jessica Andrade via first-round triangle choke to earn her first $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus. The former Resurrection Fighting Alliance competitor, who was deemed “too old” to compete in the UFC at one point by president Dana White, has emerged victorious from her first two outings inside the Octagon.
Dwyer handed William Macario his second straight UFC loss and earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus. The 25-year-old successfully bounced back from a loss in his promotional debut against Albert Tumenov. In perhaps the most spectacular move of the evening, Dwyer caught “Patolino” with a Superman punch squarely on the temple that ended the scrap.
