Short-notice opponent Cortney Casey came out swinging, and Joanne Calderwood responded.
The strawweight combatants pocketed a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus as a result of their entertaining clash at UFC Fight Night at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow on Saturday. Meanwhile, Joseph Duffy and Steven Ray received $50,000 “Performance of the Night” paychecks for their respective victories.

Meanwhile, Duffy, still best known as the last man to beat interim featherweight champ Conor McGregor, continues to make a name for himself in the Octagon, as he submitted Ivan Jorge with a triangle choke at the 3:05 mark of round one. After controlling the action on the feet, the Irishman smoothly transitioned to the fight-ending submission when the Brazilian attempted to take the action to the mat.
Finally, Scotland’s Ray delighted the Glasgow audience with a rousing first-round stoppage of Leonardo Mafra Texeira. The Dinky Ninjas representative came out firing and clipped his Brazilian opponent with a right hook early. Ray kept the heat on a wobbly Texeira from there, eventually sending his man to the canvas with a left hook and clinching the victory with follow-up punches 2:30 into the opening frame.
