UFC Fight Night Medical Suspensions: ‘Shogun’ Gets 60 Days; Warlley Alves Out 3 Months

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has been issued 60-day medical suspension by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) after suffering a knockout at the hands of Ovince St. Preux.

CABMMA on Monday disclosed its list of medical suspensions from UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. St. Preux,” which took place Nov. 8 in Uberlandia, Brazil. The show’s main event saw former UFC light heavyweight champion Rua punched out in just 34 seconds by underdog St. Preux, who replaced Jimi Manuwa on less than two weeks’ notice. St. Preux received a minimum suspension of 14 days.

Co-main event winner Warlley Alves will be sidelined for 180 days, or until his right rib cage is medically cleared by X-ray. Opponent Alan Jouban, whom many media members felt should have earned the nod in the three-round scrap, was suspended for 45 days.

The event’s only other major suspension was given to welterweight Colby Covington, who will sit out 180 days unless medically cleared by an orthopedic doctor.
