Rory MacDonald will make his first appearance since losing to Robbie Lawler at UFC 189 a year ago in what was one of the bloodiest, most violent battles ever. MacDonald will oppose rising star in the making Stephen Thompson in the main event of UFC Fight Night “MacDonald vs. Thompson,” which goes down inside the TD Place Arena.

At Friday’s weigh-ins, both welterweights looked as ready as ever, primed for battle in what could be one of the year’s most action-packed duels. Thompson, one of the most electric strikers in MMA, was the first of the two featured combatants to step to the scale and nailed it, weighing officially at 170.5 pounds.

MacDonald, meanwhile, says he’s fully healed from the shattered nose he suffered at the lethal hands of Lawler and is ready to make another run at the title. “Red King” was equally on point as his foe and he tipped the scale at 170.5 pounds, giving the green light for the main event.

The co-featured bout of the evening will see fan favorite Donald Cerrone back in action against longtime veteran Patrick Cote. The bout is expected to a thriller on the feet as both “Cowboy” and Cote love to slug it out. The Canadian “Predator” clocked in at 170 pounds as he gears up for what could be the fight of the night. Cerrone, meanwhile, came in at 171pounds.

UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Thompson will begin on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 6;45 p.m. ET/3:45 p.m. PT. The undercard will kick off on Fox Sports 2 starting at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT. Finally, FS1 will handle the main card, airing the fistic festivities at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
