The recently postponed welterweight bout between Rick Story and Erick Silva will serve as the co-headliner when the UFC travels to the Canadian province of Saskatchewan for the first time.
In addition, Josh Burkman squares off with Patrick Cote at 170 pounds, while Maryna Moroz meets Valerie Letourneau at strawweight on the Aug. 23 card. Promotion officials revealed the new matchups on Wednesday. Chad Laprise, Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Sam Stout are also expected to compete at the event, with opponents to be announced at a later date.
The UFC Fight Night card takes place at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon and is headlined by a featherweight showdown between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.
Story and Silva were initially scheduled to meet on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Hollywood, Fla., but the bout was postponed as a result of Silva’s visa issues. Story has won two straight fights, including a split-verdict over Gunnar Nelson in his most recent outing. Silva, meanwhile, has scored back-to-back triumphs over Josh Koscheck and Mike Rhodes in his last two Octagon appearances.
Burkman returned to the UFC after more than a six-year hiatus in January, dropping a decision to Hector Lombard at UFC 182 that was later overturned to a no contest. He was submitted in the third round by Dong Hyun Kim in his last fight at UFC 187. The resurgent Cote has won four of his last five fights, with a unanimous decision loss to Stephen Thompson the only blemish on his record during that time. “The Predator” last appeared at UFC 186, where he captured a three-round verdict over Joe Riggs.
The unbeaten Moroz made an emphatic Octagon debut, as she submitted the favored Joanne Calderwood with a first-round armbar at UFC Fight Night in Poland on April 11. Letourneau enters the matchup on a three-fight winning streak, including triumphs over Jessica Rakoczy and Elizabeth Phillips in the UFC.
