Cody Pfister will make his Octagon debut on short notice, as Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Monday announced that the newly signed lightweight will face James Moontasri at UFC Fight Night “Thompson vs. Thatch.”

Pfister steps in to replace Moontasri’s original opponent, Jake Lindsey, who was forced to withdraw from the bout for unspecified reasons. The 155-pound matchup is scheduled to be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass, while the remainder of the card will air live on Fox Sports 1 from 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo.

A native of Amarillo, Texas, 24-year-old Pfister holds an 11-3 career mark and has recorded finishes in seven of his victories. “The Pfist” was selected as a cast member for the 15th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” but was submitted in the elimination round by Vinc Pichel. Since that 2012 exhibition loss, Pfister has gone 4-0-1.

Moontasri, 26, fights out of Los Angeles’ Black House gym and has compiled a 7-2 record with five finishes since making his MMA debut in 2008. The Californian suffered a split decision loss to fellow UFC newcomer Joe Ellenberger in June 2014.
