UFC Heading to Portland for Fight Night Card on Oct. 1

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Oregon for the first time in six years this fall.

The promotion announced on Saturday that it will hold a Fight Night card at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 1. No bouts were announced for the event, which will likely be televised on Fox Sports 1.

The Moda Center, formerly known as the Rose Garden, is home to the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers. It has also hosted ice hockey, rodeos, circuses and concerts, among other things. The arena’s capacity is just less than 20,000 for basketball, but is less for other events.

The Las Vegas-based organization last traveled to the Beaver State for UFC 102 at the then Rose Garden on Aug. 29, 2009. The evening’s headliner saw Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira take an entertaining unanimous decision over Randy Couture in a heavyweight duel. The event drew a reported 16,088 fans for a $1.92 million gate.
