The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Connecticut for a Fight Night event on Sept. 5.

The news was announced Saturday night on Fox Sports 1. The event takes place at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn., on the same Friday evening Bellator 123 will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., some 10 miles away. The UFC card will be televised on Fox Sports 1; the Bellator 123 bill will air on Spike TV.

The Las Vegas-based promotion last visited Connecticut for UFC 55 “Fury” on Oct. 7, 2005. That event saw Andrei Arlovski score a 15-second knockout of Paul Buentello in the main event. On the same card, Forrest Griffin stopped Elvis Sinosic inside of a round, while Renato Sobral tapped out Chael Sonnen with a second-round triangle choke.
